Fandom Spotlight: Skins

When Skins first appeared on UK television in 2007, few people knew it would be as much of a hit as it turned out to be. With a rotating cast that changed every two seasons and a focus on the darker aspects of being a teenager, this seven-season show went on to be broadcast to people around the world. Although the show came to a close in 2013 and an attempt at a US version was a flop, Skins still has a large fanbase, both offsite and here on Mibba!

Skins on Mibba

Fans of Skins can find a few things to get involved with on the site itself. Mibba’s Role-Playing forum is always a good place for role-players to get together with other Mibbians and create a dynamic storyline. You can search for any currently open role-play threads, or if you want to create your own role-play, you can recruit other Mibbians through the Role-Play Recruiting Thread. If you’re not interested in role-playing, but still want to write with other Mibbians, then hop over to the Find a Co-Author thread, where you can look for other Skins fans to write co-written or group-written stories.

Here, you’re welcome to discuss everything and anything about the show! There is also the chance to create a Skins club in our Clubs forum, where you can set weekly challenges, discuss certain aspects of the shows and share stories with other like-minded people.

Skins Stories on Mibba

Fans of Skins can find a few fanfiction stories to keep their appetite for the show satisfied. All Monsters by KTASTIC is a story that places the spotlight on Effy Stonem. After a visit to the psychiatrist, she meets the mysterious Tate. With an impending move to Harvard on the horizon, will everything run smoothly for the cursed teenager?

Old Habits Die Hard by thatloserkid is a one-shot from the point-of-view of series three regular Cook. It focuses on the way that Cook feels about his own representation in the world, and his thoughts on his attempts to change those views.

If you’re struggling to find something that you enjoy, you can get the ball rolling on new stories by creating a contest in Mibba’s Contests and Challenges thread, allowing people to gain more inspiration and allowing you to read what they come up with!
