@ AuthorCRMisty I do the same with vegetables. Can't remember the last time I had to actually buy tomato seeds -- just keep some from fruits, dry them out and plant them next year. Simple!
A few years ago I purchased 1 envelope of marigolds and every fall I harvest some of the seeds from what I planted. (When the flower dries up and dies, pull off the dried petals and there is a pod full of seeds) I plant the harvested seeds every spring around this time and they do well. Even though they are an annual, I've never had to purchase more seeds.
