His feet were bare of any footwear, leaving Ebony to ponder how he never felt cold - most likely because he was the one who created frost and snow. He carried the usual faded brown trousers and his navy jacket was forever peppered with flecks of ice and frost. His wooden staff was clutched tightly between his right hand.

Soft ivory hair was placed atop his head, his skin always the creamy fair complexion. His light lips were pulled back into a wide smile, presenting his blindingly white teeth, as he gazed fondly at the little girl. Looked at her with those sparkling cerulean gaze; that seemed to bear a remarkable resemblance with the blue crystals that Ebony's wind-chimes had.

"Hi," he said.

Dreamworks' Pictures released an animated film titled Rise of the Guardians in conjunction with the festive holidays last year. The main character, Jack Frost, instantly became a hit with the audience, "melting" hearts with his mischievous grin and an all 'round carefree attitude. It's no surprise that many fanfictions have been derived from this movie, centering the winter sprite.

Like a Dream tells a story of how Ebony first met the winter Guardian when she was five years old and since then, the both of them had become the best of friends. Although she is now a teenager, Ebony still wholeheartedly believes in Jack Frost. She looks forward to every winter season because that is when Jack will come to pay her a visit.

Initially, they regard each other only as friends, but as the years progress and Ebony grows up, they realise that they might have developed feelings of interest towards each other. But, can a human girl and a mythical being be together in the end?

Teenage hearts has captured the whimsical aspect of this romantic story. Currently standing at sixteen chapters and ongoing, do take a read at this and immerse yourself with the magical world of Ebony and Jack.

Special thanks goes out to everybody dies; and Katie Mosing for the edits.
