What I mean, is you think he's gonna do this, but he does it a in a completely diffrent way because he's three steps ahead of what you are thinking of at that point in time. Admitted I still laughed, but not at you, just to nothingness.

Hehe (laughing out of me-ness, I laugh alot, not because you nearly cried) that's the whole mind teasingery of it all, it makes you want more and more and makes you want there to never be an end, makes you want Light to conquer the world... and then he dies, right on time to make you love him to such little bits his death is tragic to you, even though you know it's an animated character... God, I love the way that story messes with you. Ofcourse it's sad he dies, and I had tears to my eyes as well... (partially because now he didn't get to use the epic scythe) But that doesn't mean I dislike it ^^

Honestly? I LOVED it, it's neither truly fulfilling nor what you expect, it's the perfect ending for a perfect show. It leaves you wanting to know what Ryuk (if I recall correctly) will do and how everything actually works? Light won't go to heaven or hell, does that mean he becomes a Shinigami/Deathgod?
I love it when shows end like that, leaves me with tons of inspiration to write :P
