The story is about two guys named Hayden and Haley who were in a relationship that everyone disapproved.
What I had in mind when I wrote the story was that they were twins whose parents were divorced. They met for the first time when they were teens, and they fell in love, not feeling like they were brothers since they didn't grow up together.
Now, this isn't explicit in the story, so they might as well be unrelated and only looking alike, and people disapproved their relationship just because of homophobia.
Anyway, their words of hate hurt Hayden to the point he started to think he was a monster for loving a guy he shouldn't love, and he was scared to look in the mirror because he thought his reflect would show the monster he was inside.
Haley was stronger, he didn't care about what people said, and he always protected Hayden. That's why Hayden thought Haley was his hero.
Eventually, things got worse for Hayden. In the story, he is in a mental hospital and Haley is visiting him. Haley is actually the only one talking except for the part when Hayden calls him Hero. The rest of the time, he is talking to Haley on his mind, remembering the time they were together from the casual sentences Haley says.
The main point in the story is that Hayden is living in the past. He tries to convince himself things haven't changed between he and Haley. But it is becoming more difficult at every visit, and, deep inside, he starts to hate Haley for going on with his life and leaving him behind. He can't live without Haley, and he wants to believe Haley can't live without him.
This is the second reason he is scared of mirrors - as it is explained at the end of the story. Hayden doesn't want to look in the mirror because he would see Haley is no better than him, just a man and not the hero he worshipped. It would achieve to destroy his dream by proving him he has been living a lie.
- I hope this is clear enough. The story seems clear to me because I wrote it, but I realize it's actually very complicated to explain x)
Hey there :) Don't mind Aramis, he's retarded and likes to confuse people (especially me) :P Anyway, there is no truth to his story. It was all created in that sick little mind of his :D
You don't have to change it, it didn't count for much. Yeah the part were she killed herself and kinda the homophobic thing, just because my friend makes a big deal of homphobes wanting her dead, when I myself think it's calmed down a bit.
