yeah but if he doesn't meet all of the criteria he could possibly not graduate. So he may have one more year.

As for the darkness (or lack of it), most of my poems have alternate meanings in my mind that very few people catch on to, and that poem is one of them. When the star isn't a star, if you interpret it the way I wrote it (though of course, it's always up to the reader to read how they will) it can be quite dark.
But yeah, initially, it isn't dark. :)
