wow. yeah, that would be distressing. i can understand the wanting to do it, but i don't understand not realizing what's upsetting about it?

yeah. it's always more disturbing to see the aftermath. but see, that would be me. i don't talk to people about how i feel. i just don't. it never makes me feel better. never has. so i'm almost scared of getting to that place, but i'm pretty sure i wont.

ha, apparently our music is quite similar in some respects. oddly enough, Angel by Sarah Mclachlan was playing just after i found out about my friend. actually, i took that one as a sign and am now writing a book for/about him, as a guardian angel. so. but i just remember that really well, because Angel is one of my favourite songs, and i was on the computer, checking my emails and listening to CHUM FM and i got the phone call. it's weird that i remember that, though. i remember nothing of the night, or really the week, that my boyfriend offed himself.

well thank you. it was kind of more tragic for them considering, you know, they died :P
no, i'm pretty much fine now. this all happened over a year ago. actually, it will be the two year anniversary of my boyfriend's death this August. so. i'm not over it, but you know what i mean.
but yeah, i wouldn't kill myself. suicide is really very selfish, and i realized that shortly after i came out of the haze of that, after they did it so close together. besides, i have no reason to kill myself. worse things happen to better people.

but yeah, my point was that music is something that is just so... able to be there. it doesn't matter what time, who you are, or any of that. it's like medication :P

and i have the feeling they mainly wouldn't judge.
i think i've actually only wanted to die, really die, twice.
first time when my boyfriend killed himself,
second when my best friend did the same.
and that's when they helped the most. there aren't many older songs of theirs that are really all that comforting, but there were a few i depended on. music just has that relaxing quality about it, especially when you know who made it has been through a lot and is able to just keep going.

i very strongly agree. i think they helped me be able to get through a lot. like, i would probably be a lot worse off than i am if i hadn't been able to listen to Time of Your Life during a rougher patch. for me, when i listen to some of their songs, it really makes me feel like, one, i'm not so bad off, and two, i can, to a certain degree, relate to it. for example, BJ has panic attacks, right? he actually has the same kind of panic disorder that i was diagnosed with. and when i found out i had it, and he had it, it was like 'okay, he's a father, husband, and fantastic musician. if he can deal with it, so can i'. i wouldn't say they've saved my life, but they've definitely helped it.

a lot of shit has happened around me and, yeah, that video brings up some shit i don't want brought up.

yeah, i think i'd draw the line at killing my family, but other than that, yeah. they asked me to backflip off the CN Tower? I probably would (if, you know, it benefited them is some way other than 'haha, lookit her jumping off the CN Tower)

both really. anything with bullets/people being shot at is kind of an emotional trigger or whatever for me. and the whole their basically in a hail of bullets and chose to spend what appears to be their last seconds together... i know a little bit about that. plus, you know, it's Green Day. Green Day could make me do anything they wanted.

Time of Your Life. that song means a lot to me. but Basket Case comes in close second with Saint Jimmy and 21 Guns a tied third.

i never said anything about leather trenches. i'm talking about leather jackets, the jean jackets with the arms torn off. that kind of thing.

well, in that respect, you and i will always differ then.

yeah, but you're talking about new rock and the newer conception of punk. back in the eighties when the punk movement started, there were the dudes who wore the skinny jeans and make up (two trends that I personally could never stand on any man) and the converse. it's was basically a calmer variation of the more... hard core, if you will, punks. but typically even those dudes were dripping with chains and piercings and all of that. most of the boys of Green Day, and a lot of other rock bands, are reminiscent of that, but still more on the 'newer' rock aspect side.

thank you.

i am the opposite. that's more rocker to me. i do think punk is, for the main part, pretty much over. there will always be the smaller bands who do underground shows, but i don't think there will be another actual punk group who gets to claim the status that bands like the Sex Pistols did. i always think of the punk look as the Mohawks, layers of tattoos, leather jackets, doc martins, and really big metal spikes. i was always really into bands like the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, the Germs, X, Black Flag, Minor Threat, the Misfits... all the original punk bands. so that's how it will eternally be to me.
