Haha, thanks.
From what I read on your profile, you seem pretty cool, too.(:

Yeah... I'm weird.
No, it's not too personal. All my friends know about my OCD issues. Well, for one thing all my pens and pencils in my pencil case have to face a certain way. And my makeup is organized into sections and if anyone moves lets say the eye shadow to the eyeliner I have freak attacks. I have to have all my money unfolded and facing the right way in my wallet. I have a morning ritual that no one can get me out of. I count when I brush my teeth and I count when I walk. My OCD basically revolves around control.
Sure, sure. I've got dialogue down pretty well. So, say you're having a conversation, just two people.
"Hello," Janny said.
"How are you?" Devin replied.
Okay, so when Janny said hello, there was a comma in the quote because hello is a fragment. But when Devin said how are you there was a question mark because his sentence wasn't a fragment. In dialogue you're allowed to have fragments but you must always use commas and not periods but the tag afterwards must end in a period. Like so:
"Jesus," Kallie cursed.
This is incorrect:
"Jesus." Kallie cursed,
Because Kallie cursed is a sentence. It has a subject and verb so that will always end in a period.
Next is when someone is talking for a long while, like so:
"But mom!" Jenny whined. "I've been dying to go to this party!"
When you write dialogue that is continuing you must keep in mind what is a sentence and what is a fragment. You can continue like that for as long as you please as long as you use the correct punctuation, like this:
"And," Mia breathed heavily. "I was like no way!" She threw her hands up. "And he was like," she deepened her voice. "Yes way!"
Do you see what I mean? And he was like isn't a sentence so it ends in a comma. Another thing you should remember that is very important is this:
"But," she cried.
"But," She cried.
The second one is incorrect. Because the dialogue ends in a comma the tag afterwards must be lowercase unless it is a name like so:
"But," Jenny cried.
That would be capitalized.
Same goes for sentences:
"I know how to tie my shoes." She said.
That would be capitalized because She starts a new sentence.
