Not quite sure, but the idea of a space-time continuum (and the time-paradox), has always been able to draw all sorts of people to something. I've had the discussion with a few friends, and we can only guess based on the pseudo-psychological end of things Y'probably wouldn't want to hear that ramble. =P
Either way, as much as I like things like Doctor Who (at times), it would be nice to see more movies (especially remakes/reboots) that weren't justified by fucking with time. >_>;
I know what you mean. Time Travel, to that effect, doesn't belong in Star Trek. I could try and give a reason on how it could be played off, bugt I really think it was just an issue of "reboot". They wanted it to be a huge movie, even outside of the fan-following. They 'modernized' it, and kept some of the TOS crew, because... it is Star Trek, even if they did want it to be a huge hit, all around.
I'm still a bit annoyed that Shatner was left out of the move, just because the Movie staff didn't like him, but oh, well...
That's awesome. I'd name my kid Jayne, if I could be sure he'd be awesome enough to kick the ass of anyone making fun of him.
Firefly is, indeed, awesome. I love when people recognize the origin of my username and signature (etc.)
On that note, the list of interests on your profile? Win. I haven't heard anyone mention Mercedes Lackey in a long time. Or even Star Trek...not around here, anyway (Beyond the latest movie.)
