I remember my first white Christmas after 11 years of crappy weather ones...I was in the drive way shoveling out a foot an a half of snow so that we could get the suitcases out and unpack into our new house (we moved to a new country a week before Christmas) and That song came to my head...I was pissed. My dad shows up with a cup of hot chocolate and sits to watch me shovel while I am screaming to no one in particular "who ever wrote the song I am dreaming of a white Christmas did not know what the flip they were talking about!"...It was a good day.
That is a long time to be away. I should save up and head out there. It is not a trip I would want to do alone though.

as for the name thing...you cant turn your name into a Chinese one...You are kind of given a whole knew one. Like...my surname is taken from the name I am most commonly known as in China. Danielle, so they chose Dae(the character for it means Black/makeup type thing. It is an old word for something no longer used) Then my first name comes from my last name. Migenes, turning into Mei(the character for it means beautiful) then they took into consideration the time I lived in Japan and the name my father was given there for his last name. So Yi (the character for it meaning Wings). So I am DaeMeiYi. It is by no means a conventional Chinese name and it sounds very strange to a Chinese person but it suits me so I like it. It reflects who I am here, my family name and my past.
A Chinese name is given to you by someone who has known you for a while. You dont just up and get a Chinese name, the way that you dont just up and name yourself when you are born.
