50 Shades does not follow some simple rules put up by
BDSM lifestyle. The story is just so unrealistic, she is a 22 year old virgin who doesn't know what masturbation is (so unlikely), and she is extremely turned on by this "this beautiful, powerful, urbane man". I don't find Christian sexy even by the authors description; he sounds horribly...average.

BDSM encompasses a broad spectrum of sexuality, and has become a catch-all descriptor for those who like to indulge in occasional spanking sessions, to those who attend parties and play out scenes in front of others, to those who have devoted themselves full time and absolutely to the Master/slave lifestyle. The activities depicted in James’ books represent only a narrow sliver of that spectrum. However, I find that Christian is not really into BDSM - he is just abusive. There is really no other way around it, Ana is so naive(I mean she was a virgin when she met him, and it was also felt needed to state "he was the best thing to enter her vagina) that she doesn't know how to say no and he takes advantage of that. He abuses her and she goes along with it because she isn't entirely sure what everything entails.

He doesn't even really do much of anything that is BDSM, he controls her and tells her what he is gong to do and she just agrees with it without much of an opinion on anything
