Yeah. I think it's just that most parents won't be really comfortable in places they don't know, and are scared of what's out there. I know that I've been prejudiced against heaps, merely because I look Middle Eastern and am a Muslim. According to a lot of people over here, I'm a terrorist and a 'Muslim B***'. No joke, that’s what some people call me when they don’t even know me =[ So I can sort of see why your parents don’t want to.
Join the club. Three quarters of the Arabs here don’t even know the alphabet. Their vocabulary when it comes to Arabic is "shuu cuz" or "deb" or "kes-e***"…in other words, just the swear words that they don’t even know the meaning of. It's sad to see such a beautiful language spoken like that. Luckily for me, I've been going to Arabic school since kindergarten (I was born in Syria and went to rowdah two years there xD) and my parents don’t encourage speaking English at home...so my Arabic is pretty good =]
So Safad is in Palestine? I've only recently looked into the matter of Palestine, and I don't really know what is where. Either way, Palestine is a beautiful country – or should I say was? What's there left in it but ruined homes because of the sehyouniyeh? But etcherafet bema3reftik, both ways =]

Agreed. The media won't ever really look at the bad side of things, unless its some absolutely AMAZING celebrity that donates to charity - and half the time, the celebrities are more obsessed with themselves.
Lol. Hopefully we'll be coming around this year, if the dollar goes up. My mum plans to leave no place for us to not see. She's taking on of the tour of a lifetime so that we soak up our culture xD
I do speak Arabic. I'd type on here, though i don't think the letters would come out right. They'd probably be strange boxes or so. Though i have to say, my fushah isn't exactly that great ><.
So where from Palestine are you?

    Really?
You're so lucky. My mum's constantly going on about how beautiful Damascus is and that, but as I've yet to see it myself, then i really can't say much =]
I'm not Palestinian, yet i understand what you mean - and i agree 100% with Ahmadinijad. If the American government and the Zionist lobby love Israeli so much and are willing to send it $3 billion each year, then why not make Israel part of America and leave Palestine alone?
I'd hate it for someone to come into my home and kick me out, kill my relatives, and then tell me to go live there but under strict and oppressing rules. And honestly? The media only paints the bad side of everything. It never shows the suffering of the Palestinian people, nor the suffering of the people in Iraq, or anywhere in the Middle east, actually. It only focuses on how Islam is a 'terrorist and violent' religion and how 'fanatics' such as Hezballah and Hamas constantly hide behind civilians.
Inshallah, Palestine will once again shine, as will al-Qods. Allah yehmeh Palestine!

    Hey!
I just checked the article I wrote not long ago, about the Gaza offensive. I think you kind of misinterpreted my meaning. What i mean by comparing Hezbollah and the Nazis is that both want to bring happiness, pride and prosperity to their country (the Nazis turn out to be no good, and Hezbollah is dubbed 'terrorist').
I am of Syrian origin, though i live in Australia; i never really understood anything about the conflict between Palestine and Israel. I'd just see my mum cry whenever we'd see the news or mourn the days of invasion. I researched it for myself and saw so much prejudiced from both sides that it was so hard to understand. But I'm with Palestine all the way. I'm not against having a state for Jews called Israel - after all, everyone is free in their beliefs - but I am opposed to creating a state out of terrorism and genocide - exactly how Israel was created by the likes of Netanyahu.
So thanks either way for the comment. Are you Palestinian or Syrian? Its nice to meet you =]
P.S, you rock for loving MCR.
