Under the HTML tab on your homepage, there is a default layout already set in. That's why your picture, about me, comments, stories, photos, ect. are all showing up. If you delete a section, it'll take away that section.
Like if you backspace the whole "comment" section under that tab and save changes, your comments won't show up on your profile anymore unless you click the 'comments' tab up top.

So if you use a layout and keep the picture part on there, it should show up.
I hope that made sense, haha.
And if not, I can let you use my layout and change the background and HTML for you so it'll show up. (:
