lmfao! WTF was with my verbal vomit, soz!

oh im sure prenty of mibba users have read and liked ur work, they may not comment sometimes but they certainly always enjoy the read :) I started writing because i was depressed and had to channel all my emotions through something, i thought i did not have talent and didnt have any reason to live. But thats not the way i shouldve been thinking and no one realises how good they are, even albert einstein didnt toot his own horn but he was a great physicist. The way i find poetry competitions is by searching free poetry competitions on google and they are listed. the free ones are legitamite ones but the ones u have to pay for are usually bullsh*t ones. I got published by Forward Poetry and am getting published in january by United Press. Realistically speaking, this isnt enough to become a known poet or get my own anthology published but its a start. If your considering taking writing seriously as a career then you need a CV filled with stuff you've done that revolves around writing by volunteering to write book reviews for an online magazine and doing a summer unpaid internship for a publishing house and getting as many short stories and poems published on websites and anthologies. ALL of these things combines could make it easier to get published but you'll still face a bajillion rejections. Kathryn Stockett(author of NYC bestselling book The Help) got rejected from 50 different literary agents before one took her on. Lemony Snickett (A Series Of Unfortunate Events) got rejected over 30 times before he got published. It's evident that its hard to love what you do as a living, especially if its writing but you have to focus. I've been working on my book for 3 years and so far its been rejected twice but i keep my hopes up and u should too (: p.s. happy halloween (or Samhain, not that i celebrate it lol) to you too!

hey no problem! I love encouraging writers so that they can see how wonderful they are just like the readers see it. I truly believed that poem was beautifully written and if I had someone to tell me to believe in myself when I started writing, it wouldnt have taken me 3 years to become a published poet. I really think you should send your poems into poetry magazines and competitions. Thats how most poets start off these days. I hope you realize what a great talent you have and dont deprive the world of seeing how gifted you are. <3
