It was neither. The wind was just really high and it knocked down a power line. Just my block was out that long.

& yeah. Ice storms and snow storms do make a difference. If it's an ice storm, everything just gets iced over and it doesn't last long. Snow storms can last for days. Here in Chicago they normally don't, though.

That's happened to my mom back in 1986. The worst that's ever happened when I was alive was the power went out for 36 hours the Sunday before Christmas this year. We spent the whole day at home - where it was like 30 inside the house even with the fire place - but at night we went to a hotel.
