Hi! All that dream stuff doesn't really matter. If you get it, great, but if you don't it doesn't really matter. It's lots of metaphor and speculation. Charity's dreams are her life in a more abstract, confusing sort of format : ) The elephant is how she feels about herself, and the ringmaster is the one, whoever that may be, that controls her actions. Her destiny. He has no face because whether it's a dream or not, she can't meet the other-worldly forces that control her.
Confusing? Stupid? Yes. Yes, it is : )
