When i got it pierced... okay, I went in all shaky and the woman said we'd have to wait because the steriliaser was on, which made me feel a whole lot better to know that everything was clean and safe :]
They mark out where the piercing will be and you decide if it's right for you - they'll try and tempt you away from a ring because they say it's annoying and it wiggles too much but honestly if you get the right size it is the most comforting thing known to man!
Then they spray the area to pierce to make it numb. Then they pierce it with a needle. At least I think it was a needle, I had my eyes VERY shut :P When the needle went through there was a slight tugging type feeling but other than that it didn't hurt until the numbing had worn off, and even then I think it only hurt because I couldn't stop fiddling with it! It does sweel a bit but it's not too uncomfortable. I would say as soon as the swelling goes down invest in a shorter bar otherwise you're likely to crack a tooth on the extra metal - I was eating a sandwich way too fast, hehe.. Oh, and expect itching and a little bit of puss.. which is gross but goes after like three days.. and when I say a little bit I really do mean a little smidgin' type bit. Also, invest in some witch hazel to help it stay clean and infection free; it'll help it to heal quicker too..
If/When you get it done, go for Titanium rings rather than silver. Not only do they come in more colours, but they're a little more flexible and if you're like me you'll keep it in for a long time (it was pink for like three months, it's now blue lol) you can kind of bite down on it and it'll hold a lot better than a silver ring and ball. Also, invest in lots of balls!! They're very likely to get lost if you fiddle or bite it, or nibble on it when you're nervous. Anything else you want to know, just ask! :] xx
