i like your explaination. The last part is right about him being dead inside. The broken mirror is departure from the world. The apple tree symbolies temtation.

theres alot of symbolism in that too. The tree isn't really a kiss up, but i was just creating an idea. if that makes sense? The house is yellow (old, violence, rotting,ect) I was going to decribe the owner of that house to be the devil, but I thought the doormat was a good place to stop

why don't you come out and say it? maybe people don't ask because they dont want to offend or appear serious
