Mm, then for punk rock/metal, I suggest you listen to the songs of Maximum The Hormone, the GazettE, and Alice Nine.
Classic.. hmm. ART-SCHOOL and supercell. If you`re looking for the common type of J-rock, the bands would be NICO Touches the Walls, FLOW, and SNoW. Actually, I`m not even sure if SNoW is a band, haha. But you should listen to her songs.
I forgot the pop rock genre. Do you listen to that type ?

Hmm, it depends though. Are you into visual kei (punk rock, metal) ? Or perhaps electronic rock ? There`s also classic J-rock itself. XD
There are a varieties of J-rock, actually. So if you`re into a specific kind of J-rock genre, just tell me, and I`ll suggest you some bands that are good to listen to. :)

I know what you mean, I only found about 2 or 3 really good well written KPOP fics here. The rest are all muddled up and just, bleurgh-- makes me sick. (I'm a huge fan of reading and a perfectionist)
