Oh no, I'm not that great. My points are often lost because I desperately conceal things that I wish to vent, in doing so- I end up contradicting my message. The readers often tell me something I never even intended to try to portray. I have a lot to learn.
Ah, but rhyme schemes are just a guideline for fluency, if you can just find the right words to replace the ones you connect with- you kill two birds with one stone. My sonnets for example- a strict format. I followed it as well as I could (though some lines were 11 syllables.) But the format, difficult as it was, didn't hinder the emotion I wanted to get through.
PSST! I read all your poems and, dude, you have a knack for poetry. I love all the metphors, diction, and figurative language. Also, your rhymes were really great. And since you mentioned you wanted critiques, not just praise, I'll say make sure to check some of your grammar, and remember that poetry doesn't always have to rhyme, even if you are good at it ;D
But it's funny, because when I write my poetry I never consider the reader, and maybe that's why there's a lack of an element throughout it. And even if it's a word game for you, through experience, I have to hold my belief that you couldn't write as well as you do if you don't make an emotional connection with the work.
Well of course, there's no such thing as a piece of writing that couldn't be improved. Even world famous authors/poets could use some polish with some of their works. haha
Ah, no need to go through my works. My stories are all unfinished and lengthy and my poetry well...it lacks grace. Nothing worth spending time on reading.(:
Haha, yea, I don't like that very much either, that's why I try to give some meat to my reviews when I give them out. It's a simple thing I learned in school to give good feedback and end it with advice on shaky parts. I usually follow that format.
You're a poet?
And you didn't even know it?
XD Look at me, writing some poetry myself, there.
It's like I pulled it right out of thin air!
Ok, I'm gonna stop now.
After this one last round.
XD Anyway... I'll try to update Jihad soon :P
Ah, it was my pleasure. You have a great talent for writing.(:
Considering you claim to be more of a story person, I'll probably review a story of yours as well just because I have the tendency to do so. haha
if you copy and paste the link below into your toolbar, you'll find the 150+ random songs put together by me (and partially by my besties angie) that stays on shuffle all day
Evanescence eh? You should look up Epica. Look into their lyrics and such, I think you'll like it. Also, I suggest Delain, Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Kamelot.
I think you'll like them. I listen to a lot of female fronted rock and metal, if you love Amy (though she has a different style) You'll love Simone Simons. :)
