It's great that they're discussing it and starting to recognise the importance of the issue. It makes me so sad though to see homophobic attacks on the news.

I know that in Australia we actually have some ok laws regarding same-sex couples. They aren't yet allowed to marry though, which sucks, but I believe that one state (NSW I think) allows for same-sex adoption which is great. Same-sex couples here have all the same rights as de facto couples (sans marriage and adoption). I know that parliament is currently discussing changing these laws though!

Unfortunately so, though I hope to be alive to see the day when same-sex couples have completely equal footing as hetrosexuals.

Totally true. As someone else pointed out, they need to learn to separate church and state and stop basing alot of our current laws on religion.
