How would you summarize Music Reaches the Soul?
Music heals better than any medicine can.
How did you choose the title for it?
Before I posted it here on mibba I had no title for it, I just used what I thought best summed it up.
What inspired you to write this poem?
My first concert (8123 tour) last summer changed my life and really helped me through the depression that I had dealt with for 3 years. The concert was two days into summer break, and after a horrible year it was exactly what I needed to be okay again. I felt so alive, and I couldn't remember the last time that I had.
What was your favorite thing about writing Music Reaches the Soul?
I had a clear idea, and wrote it out very easily. I kept it in a word document for a while, and it went through quite a few revisions before publishing it on a blog I share with my friend Katie (www.inspiredwording.tumblr.com). It described the experience as accurately as I hoped it would.
When writing, do you have any rituals you follow?
I love listening to calming music while writing, especially by The Maine. The Maine's lyrics and sound is always doused with emotion. I also write down every great little phrase I hear or think of in my ipod notes, I then keep it stored away to possibly inspire a full poem or use as a line in a story.
Is there anything you would like to say to anyone who reads your poem?
Music is an amazing thing to have a passion for. People don't always understand the connection I have with music, but I've just kept doing my own thing and I think that important.
"That band has never broke her heart and has yet to leave her. No wonder she finds such joy in her music." - Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low
Do you have any other poems you think people would enjoy?
Although not related in theme to this one, my favorite poem I have ever written is this one; http://www.mibba.com/Poems/Read/325587/Never-Ceasing-Waves/
