thanks so much for your feedback on Witness! I have been feeling like there is some sort of disconnect between the two - I have a hard time writing transitions from being just friends where it's acceptable to not have a TON of interaction to being boyfriend and girlfriend, or somehow involved or whatever. it's definitely something I need to work on. but you're right, in this story it is a little different because he is gone a lot. and they are keeping a lot of things from each other, not that the other one really knows.

Exactly.
Even though it sounds like a really dumb book it actually covered a lot of really important issues, like sexuality and gender and stuff.

I just read the book Beauty Queens a while back and it had this conversation between a few of the girls and it talked about how girls always apologize and say things like "sorry for the rant" and things if they say more than like two sentences and tend to justify things by adding on "you know?" or "It's just my opinion, but..." whenever they talk.

and ever since I read that whenever I see someone censoring themselves it makes me sad.
