I've heard the same thing from so many people when someone comes out as either gay/trans/whatever because they don't have to lie anymore. People may give shit, but at least they get to be honest.
I'm fortunate that most of my family has been great. My dad's having problems, but we don't talk to him really so it's not a huge issue. My mom and stepdad paid for baby banking for my sister so she and her wife [she's also gay] can have their own children one day.
I don't know how close you are to your cousin or if you'll have any questions, but the first few months can be tricky so if you want to talk, just hit me up.
My cousin and I are really close, especially now that she's come out. I was one of the few people who was there for her when she needed family most, so I think that's why we have a tight bond.
I was going to ask her to make herself an account on this forum actually. I think she will find that there are people (like you) who understand her and what she's going through. Thanks for asking after her btw, I really appreciate it. :)
