    so the poem is comparing love to going off to battle,
    and how you're brainwashed into thinking that this is the right thing to do,
    and then even after you've been through soo much with someone
    in the end they are changed...
    and the person you thought you knew is dead. gone. lost.
    but its okay to let them go, because you've fought together but its not the same person you went off to war with- not the same person you fell in love with.
