sometimes i feel the same way too about my parents...
well, i have this sort of understanding with my parents that if they won't take me seriously -like if i tell them i wanna go backpacking after graduating school and they just won't pay much attention to it- i'd just start taking things into my own hands. right now i've managed to gather about RM1.5k for the the trip and they finally started to see how serious i am about the whole thing and like it or not, they just have to comply.

i know this is very lame excuse, but your parents just want the best for you. not meaning to sound negative, but working as a model can be pretty tough. the income is rather unstable unless you've managed to cement your position. maybe they're just worried about your chances. it's usually the case when parents oppose the choices made by their children.....
but don't get dishearten too easily. maybe you should try and discuss the matter with your dad again? my suggestion is to not put off the whole college scene but instead try to hold a part-time modeling stint and juggle your studies at the same time. this way, maybe your parents will see that you're serious about the whole thing and that you have a backup plan to fall back on in case things doesn't work (which i really hope they will)

i think both my parents would disown me if i don't get myself into college, too. it doesn't help to have older siblings who are such geniuses compared to mediocre me...sigh....

oh my, i think we both have the exact same dilemma. i want to venture into writing but i know for sure that my parents will be dead set against it. i'm thinking about taking up teaching course too, but am not really sure whether i'm really up for it... my sister suggested computer science, but i don't know. the prospects doesn't excite me that much...
