psst. never let anyone know I told you this, but you don't really need to do all of the reading. Of all my friends I'm the only one who does all the reading for the lectures. And many of them got far better grades than me last year, so it doesn't matter, I just do it because I enjoy it. Obviously do it if you have time but there's an awful lot of reading for lectures and if you haven't time then just read for your tutorial. /end of corrupting influence.

funnily enough I knew Chiara before litsoc; she's a friend of a friend. it's such a small world, being at uni :XD:: how're you finding it so far, anyway? (also, with the whole not having the time/energy to go to events, I was exactly the same last year so I can totally relate).

I was talking to these girls who live in Holland Annexe at the lit soc last night and afterwards I worried incase you were one of them and I'd been rude by not ...introducing myself properly or something. So if you were then I'm really sorry. If not then this comment is just going to look really weird. XD

well, our campus isn't small. I can't say that it's big because I have nothing to compare it with, but since the buildings are pretty spread out and it's hilly it takes a bit to get from one side to the other and people are constantly running late.
n'aww, reading is work too so you shouldn't feel bad. there six or seven people who use our kitchen, I think. but since I have most of my lectures in the morning and most other people have theirs in the afternoons are paths only cross when we cook dinner. our kitchen's pretty plain, not to say ugly, so most people cook food there, but eat it in their rooms. XD
ohh Kant. I'm sure things'll get more and more exciting as you get over the initial shock. I feel like we're slowly getting used to each other in my lectures/tutorials and it's all less strange and more academically interesting than it was at first. hmm. after all, being at uni is awesome.

Do you have all your other lectures one after the other? I hate having to run from one side of the campus to the other, especially if it's raining. :/
What I love about our library is the fact that it's really huge (it has 12 levels) and as you go up it gets more and more quiet (though computer clusters stop at level 8 too, you have to come early to find a free computer here too). I usually either go up to the English section and wander through bookshelves in search of something cool, or retreat to one of the comfy chairs in Slavonic studies (which is almost always empty) and sit and read.

I knowwww... I basically get a new reading list at every lecture, it's insane. :/ but your course sounds really interesting. I know the course here starts with Descartes because I keep seeing people reading him. what did you cook? :3 I never cook anything, I just microwave things because our cookers annoy me beyond belief and the kitchen's usually really crowded and I hate having people watch me as I fail at cooking.

it takes me about just as much, maybe a little more because my German classes are on the farther side of the campus. I usually don't come back home after German, though, I just stay another two hours on campus because walking takes forever.
Arms my English lit tutorial made me feel really small. and I have to write a draft of my seminar exercise (which is basically an analysis of a poem by John Donne) and I've only managed to write the first paragraph. just, whatever I try to say sounds idiotic and/or dull. then my German teacher talks in German. all the time. most people (who, like me haven't done German before) don't get a word of it. the rest of the people get every other word or so. it's so awkward. and I think she knows that we don't understand anything she says because she usually repeats important information in English. I think she says all sorts of dirty things in German to us or something equally as naughty. XD but anyway I'm sure you'll be able to adapt in no time. :) tutors are meant to scare you a bit in the first tutorial. what are you doing in philosophy this semester.

I'm just fine. A bit busy with reading and freaking out over assessments, basically my natural state. were it not for the fact that my studying in Scotland is slowly sending my family into bankruptcy, I'd be perfectly happy. there are still some things that annoy me - not being able to find stuff I want to buy or just simply having to walk/run everywhere all the time still annoy me a bit, but other than that I think I'm settling in. :) how's Edinburgh/your courses/everything else?

OH MY GOD, SAME! At Oxford you didn't have a choice and you had to have catered accommodation. I'm the opposite with you when it comes to friends, though. Literally all my mates went to Bangor (the local uni, which is about 30 minutes on the train) and I felt really left out because they were all still seeing each other, and there was just two of us who didn't go. And he's kinda disappeared now, I haven't seen him since July... :( I felt kinda lonely in Cardiff, but I do think that was mainly down to my flatmates.

Wow, that's early! XD I'm going back to Cardiff at the very end of September! :tehe: But that is down to my job. I want to get as much money as I can before I go back - I want funds for gigs XDDDD

Lol course not! Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, I'd rather live in a box on the street rather than share with them again! ^^ I'm living with some friends.

Oh wow, really? Congratulations!!! So pleased for you and I'm so glad you got onto the course you wanted to!

I know how you feel. I applied for Oxford and got an offer, but I ultimately turned them down and put Cardiff as my firm because I just preferred Cardiff and the course. :) So when will you be going to Edinburgh? :D I hope you get some really nice flatmates ^^

Things aren't too bad. Missing Cardiff though, I just want to go back! I'm also doing the story commenting contest and I'm a little frustrated as a result, lol.
