Well, personally I think the Black Dagger Brotherhood one sounds better, although that's just from the little summary you gave me.
I would recommend you choose a character you feel like you know the most, as there's quite a lot of role playing done in the thread.

Once you've chosen your vampire, you need to find a suitable avatar for them, and change your signature to a quote or something. Also you need to put somewhere in your signature "Member of the Coven" as well. That's pretty much it. :)
