Haha, same here. I now have 87 more books on my list, including "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "The Girl, The Stopwatch, And Everything," and the Eragon trilogy.

You know, I don't actively look for indie bands either. I often check out the obscure bands my friends are listening to, or listen to indie-based internet radio.

Speaking of which, do you listen to internet radio?

Cool. Maybe I'll read it, then. I'm also looking into "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley...have you read that, by any chance? I've heard it's one of the quintessential dystopian novels.

Haha, thanks. Yeah, I know what you mean...I do too, sometimes. Though I've found that there's actually a pretty large amount of good indie music out there if one looks hard enough. You might like Bipolaroid...they're very Syd-esque, to the point where they're arguably ripping him off, but it's still good music. Also, have you ever heard of Neutral Milk Hotel?

    AAACK!

Absurdly late reply, I know. I just got back from a 3-week-long trip about a week ago, so that has something to do with it. XD

So, you've read "Down and Out in Paris and London"? What did you think of it? I'm thinking of reading it myself at some point.

You know, on the topic of The Man Who Sold The World, I once told my dad that I went through a phase where I couldn't stop listening to "All The Madmen." His reply? "That's...frightening..." XD. He was joking, but still.

Yeah, Diamond Dogs is cool. In fact, the song "1984" off of that album was one of the first Bowie songs that I liked. I couldn't go into a list of my favorite Bowie songs without filling up several pages, but I'm a really big fan of the albums Hunky Dory, Space Oddity, and The Man Who Sold The World.

You like 1984 too? No way! I went through a phase where I was utterly obsessed with it...yes, it's just so wonderful. It messed with my head. And the whole universe is just so well thought-out. George Orwell was brilliant.

I haven't read any other Orwell besides "Animal Farm," though "Down and Out in Paris and London" looks interesting. What have you read of Orwell?

That's cool. I didn't exactly grow up on '70s music, but my dad started corrupting me when I was around 10 and a few years later, classic rock was almost all I listened to. So, you've been a Syd fan for a pretty long time...I just discovered him last year. A good friend of mine introduced me to him.

Aww. I think I know what you mean. Some people have an aversion to listening to stuff that was made 30-40 years ago. Once, I introduced one of my friends to David Bowie (the song was "Running Gun Blues", which she liked because it's morbidly funny), and I've corrupted another good friend of mine into a couple bands (she already loves classic rock, though, so perhaps that doesn't count.)

So, you like David Bowie? What are your favorite songs?

*A belated reply to the comment you posted on my pro 2 weeks ago -facepalm-*

Aw, thanks. Glad to know that I'm cool! :D I think it makes perfect sense to describe Syd's mind as "intensified." A lot of artists have that affliction, I think. Like Van Gogh and Edgar Allan Poe.

So, just out of curiosity, how did you discover Syd? Did you like his work immediately, or did it take time to grow on you? And have you ever tried to "corrupt" someone else with Syd's work? Were you successful?

Man, this is why I love the "TEH INTERWEBZ!!elevenone."
