ooh, sounds nice, christmas by the ocean. my family's always had a fake tree but even that sheds little plastic needles. oh well. i know i'll sound really, really stupid but what exactly is Boxing Day? does it have anything to do with boxing? and what exactly is cricket too? i know it's a sport, but that's pretty much it. :/
agh, i envy all you people with holiday plans. usually, the best my family can muster is dragging me to church and then some campy christmas concert before settling down to watch cheesy christmas specials on Public television. if we're lucky, there's a televised version of the nutcracker somewhere. the holidays are always uber uneventful for me. but sleeping's always nice.
and sorry for the late reply. :/ i imagine by the time you read this again, you will have already completed all the activities earlier described.

yes indeed. lolz.
no, we don't. :[ i live in the southwestern part of the US, and it's hot even in winter. (although it feels cold to me.) about every seven years or something, it snows about a sixteenth of an inch. we freak out and start screaming and school gets canceled and everyone hurries out to take photos. XD
agh, i can't imagine having christmas in the summer. X[ how do you even celebrate christmas in summer? what kind of tree do you use and what do you sip or roast and what do you gather round instead of an open fire?

Awesome! Yay for books and reading! :)

Then I suppose the Inferno counts because I enjoyed it very much, indeed. Forcible reading just sucks because you can't go by your own pace. Sometimes, I want to take to my time and absorb all the details, but I'm rushed into deadline. And then other times, I want to read ahead, but I'm not allowed to do so. >.<

I'll probably go into engineering for college. I'm pretty good at math, so it seems appropriate. But I'll definitely be taking extra classes for literature and art and such.

Yay for almost being done with uni! I'm on the edge of my seat to be done with high school, but I'm pretty nervous about it, too.

hmm...well a number of people seem to think that every other person in australia is a crocodile hunter. which is pretty ridiculous.
oh, boo. i like my accent. australian accents are pretty cool too, though. i could start the whole 'i haven't got an accent, you have an accent!' silliness, but i won't. :]
although, sometimes, i'll talk to myself in my head in a pseudo british-american accent.
hmm, i thought there was this thing bout how americans are all fat and greedy and violent and ignorant. it is pretty sad though, because america's officially the fattest country in the world now. sigh.

oh, ok then. yeah, there's a good bunch of australian stereotypes floating around where i am. but then, i bet a lot of countries have stereotypes about americans too...

Alas, will power! Always seems to escape my grasp when I need it most. Like applying to college, which I should be doing right now. Meh... maybe later. x)

*gasp* Palahniuk lover and no Choke?! That's...oxymoronic (except with more words).

No good books lately other than the Inferno. But that's for school, and I'm not sure how much forcible reading counts. I have a few books set aside for some reading when I get the time. Curse you, college applications!

In other news, I saw Twilight on Friday. No where near as good as the book.

Ugh. I know. We had to run it in 16 minutes, and I barely passed it. x) Bleh, I'm more of a sprinter than a long distance runner anyway. I play defense or midfield: so much damn running.

Swimming is cool. Personally, I would probably drown in doing any water sport. I'll swim for fun, though. :D

Eek! You actually saw the flames? That is quite frightening, actually. Out of control fires scare me a bit. *shudder* Ash is just plain annoying. -.-

Ew, I'm sorry to hear that.

Then again, it's not that great here, either. Lately, every time I step outside my house, the scent of burning things overwhelms me, what with California fires and such around. The other the day, the sky was literally a hazy, orange color. It looked really cool, actually, but the reason why sucks. And then my car, after being outside all day, had a layer of ash on it. Bleh.

On a brighter note, school soccer season has officially started. Yay! But I have to run a 2 mile test tomorrow morning. Boo. x)

well, still.
i've always wanted to go to australia because if i'm not mistaken, a 'sheila' is a slang term for a girl, like 'chick' in the US, and since that's my name (sheila, not chick, lol), people can just be like, 'oh, who's that sheila?' 'that's sheila!' lol. i'm so cheesy. X]
i hate america. no, i don't hate it; i just think we suck as a country. hopefully things'll change with obama, though...
so what's up down under? X]

True, but if there's a movie based on a book, they'd rather read it first. *shrugs* Oh, well. Their loss.

Yay, finished exams! Yay, acing psychology! Yay, drinks at a bar! x)

Kind of. We take "high school exit exams" sophomore year. Then, there are SATs and ACTs that colleges look at for entrance, taken junior and senior year. Those are basically the important ones. School midterms/finals matter for grades, but everyone sort of tunes it out and doesn't care after a certain point. XP

I completely forgot that we're on different, ehm, "season cycles." I'm in the middle of fall/autumn which will soon transition into winter... weird.

None of my friends here read Palahniuk (sad, indeed) and, therefore, will not see Choke with me. :( I may just do the anti-social thing and go myself...

On-campus living is a huge American thing, I'm not so sure about international schools. Eh, I drink occasionally, nothing like on a regular basis or anything. You should some of the kids at my school: if it were possible, they'd piss alcohol, they drink so much.

Tests for college suck major ass, but I'm at least done with that part. x) I get my results soon, and hopefully, they're okay.

I wish it snowed here. The closest place to snowboard is a couple hours away. I'm actually a couple miles from the beach, so it's basically sunny and hot the majority of the year. Bleh.

Gah! I know! After I read Invisible Monsters, I thought it sounded really familiar, and then I listened to Time to Dance. *slapped forehead* Of course!

I love reading (currently Dante's Inferno for school, but strangely, I like it) and drawing/sketching (though, I also haven't done anything for a while). I actually used to snowboard, but I haven't been up to the mountains for a couple of years now. :(

Exciting stuff, degree and all. I'm in my last year of high school, so I'm application-ridden at the moment. How is college life?

Sadly, I have yet to travel outside the States, but I plan to. Australia is definitely up there on my list. x)

P.S. Palahniuk is awesome!
