That's actually EXACTLY why Luke reacted so strongly to Kevin's hesitation. Thats why he wanted to be the one who talked to Kevin. He knows what rejection is like and knows how bad it hurts.

my intention wasnt to make it seem like he has an obession, but it does appear that he does. it will make sense later on in the story, and i will provide information as to why he did that.
