I don think its dragging at all. Considering her past and what she's been diagnosed with its really hard for her to let people in especially men. and on top of that even though Matt is a total sweetheart he can be a little intimidating lol. You're keeping the story realistic and that is what this site needs, there are too many stories on here that just rush through everything and it doesnt flow well. I think you're doing a great job =)
