I don't really have 1 initial message in this poem. For me it was just trying to break free after being kept silent for so long and not being able to step up and say 'no' for the very first time.
I'd like my readers to interpret this as anything they want. It doesn't need have 1 direct meaning, as it could be a metaphor for something else.
