I wrote something on this topic a while back, but wow, this puts mine to shame.
This is so clear and easy to relate to.

Okay, so not only is this easily related to, it also has a wonderful flow, oh my gosh.
Repetition is one of my favorites, and you use it brilliantly.
Amazing.

I think this is something a lot of people can relate to. I think everyone has their moments when they feel like their parents see them as inferior to some extent, when all they really want is to be acknowledged as a human being on the same level. You painted a really good image with this, too. Took me back to my sweet years as a teenager. =) haha. I don't know why but I really liked the line about the headphones.
