This is such a poignant look at something so sad. Not just amnesia but all loss of memory, like Alzheimer's, dementia and the like. My grandpa is afflicted with Alzheimer's; he can reminisce for hours but not remember something told to him one second ago. But he knows he's forgotten, and so he's constantly searching, constantly on edge and constantly blaming himself. It's an internal war he's bound to lose and I think you've captured the idea beautifully.
