  • The language of this is really interesting. I especially love the repetition ("before before before all said and done," "let it reign let it rain," "we can start anew anew I knew"). The play on words in some of those lines (reign/rain, anew/I knew) makes it especially interesting; my mind kind of trips over it, but in a good way.

    The whole piece has kind of an abstract feel to it, and I kind of like that. It leaves room for mystery, but not for confusion.

    I was honestly expecting it to be a rhyming poem because the first few stanzas are so perfectly formed and there is a concise meter in the first couple lines, alternating between anapestic and iambic. It kind of threw me off, at first, to feel the meter so strongly and then notice the absence of rhyme. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

    I think my favorite stanza was the third. There is just something about the imagery and the word play that fascinates me.
