I like the story of this. The thing that bothers me...it may just be me... The rhythm is off. I stumbled over a few lines over all.
My absolute favorite part is the 4th stanza. I love the way it flows and how each line after the first line flows into one another.Done fighting for a place in the night sky,
The only part of me left is my marked mind,
Marked by the many hours I've spent wishing,
Wishing that some day, again, I will be living.
I think that is a very beautiful sentiment, and a very well written stanza. I love this though. The narration is wonderful; it pulled me in and left me wanting to go fly with the hawks in the end...and I noticed it's based on a story that you've written.
