10/10 this made me feel alive.
Seriously, any articulation of praise for this work will absolutely flop at doing it justice.
The air was just punched right outta my lungs and I found myself in an actual state of physical arrest while reading this; the welling-up, breathless sort of physical arrest you really only ever experience when in the midst of sheer beauty. Like the 'staring into the sun and instead of being blinded being illuminated' kind of beauty that reminds you what it is to experience art and be alive.
Wow okay, this comment is getting away from me, so how about I just highlight a few of my favorite parts okay? ok:
-I can't help but wonder
if words grow in circles,
like smoke rings exiting your mouth.
-Away with my heart!
I've escaped through the back door
all's well that ends well
-Terminal
whilst ever forgetful of the fact,
I'll always remember you at 18.
(this one haunts me ok jfc)
-Marking where I have been
in soul graffiti,
did I leave a mark on you?
(so fresh and poignant it really is the jewel of the piece IMHO)
I adore the closing line, the rhythm and general flow was A+++++++++++++ and honestly I just dONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY, IT WAS A STRONG POEM START TO FINISH.
