My main issue with your poem is that the rhyme felt particularly contrived, or forced. It's an issue that occurs often within rhyme; it just takes away from the emotion and the experience of reading it. However, you still managed to portray emotion, through action more than senses, very well. The feelings behind it came through as genuine and sweet, which definitely helps your cause. The structure of your poem, while unique, is very well-suited to the content and makes for a smooth reading experience. Good job overall and good luck!
