I was moved to tears with this piece. It's absolutely beautiful, and so well-written that I could see it being published in a poetry book. Your words took me back to a wonderful place in my childhood but also reminded me to take notice of the little things in life. I get the sense from the narrator that perhaps her mother might have cancer, which broke my heart because I've seen my own mother fight cancer and I've seen the exhaustion on her face after the chemo treatments. I don't know if the mother actually has cancer or not so that may be irrelevant. Either way, this piece was absolutely stunning.
