Beauty

I look into his eyes and I see
Mountains
Strong and tall, unyielding against all forces that are exerted upon them.
They catch fire in the sun, and shine over me with protection.
I am not alone.
I will never be alone.
I look into my sister’s eyes and I see
Oceans
Hundreds of thousands of waves beckoning me out to the horizon.
I float through them and see the wonder that she sees,
And feel the imagination inside her heart until I am renewed by her youthful grace
I will never allow a single salty drop to brim over her eyelids.
I look into my own eyes and I see
Life
Fields, meadows, valleys filled with tall, swaying grass
Adventurous winds flow over the rolling hills
I will follow them into the unknown.
There is beauty in them as they whisper my name,
Beauty in the voices that trail through the mountains
Beauty in the dreams that drift through the sea
Beauty in myself
In people
In nature
All around.
