The Fire in Your Eyes

I’m staring at my eyes.
A dull, tired grey.
But underneath burns the fire,
Struggling to keep alive today.

I’m gazing into your eyes,
A wonderful shimmering blue.
But looking at the feelings inside,
This isn’t the real you.

I’m staring at my eyes,
A dull, tired grey.
And all that’s left of the fire,
Is a spark that’s dying away.

I’m gazing into your eyes,
A wonderful shimmering blue.
And now when I look inside,
Your fire is fading away too.

The will to fight for what’s right has died,
Both for me and for you.
I’m still trying to look deeper inside,
To find once again that shimmering blue.
