A Toast

She raises her glass:

To kisses stolen in innocence
To lives melded in passion
To memories that linger
Like the taste of champagne on her lips.

To tethered dreams that fought for freedom
That melted into mountains
That rested at the top of the world
That settled into the ocean
And far beyond that blue expanse
That left her feeling as small
As the grains of sand beneath her toes.

She raises her glass
And with a perfect sigh,
Her breath carries her dreams
To seek solace in the solstice sky.
And, left breathless then,
She makes a silent toast
To where she's been.
