Crumbling Army

Finally,
Peace at last,
But did it come to quick,
Did it come to fast?

I thought it was over,
I put down that gun,
I let down the walls,
But it was just a chance for them to run.

To run right into me,
Chilling me down to the bone,
Grabbing my arms and wrists,
Removing me from thy throne.

I knew it couldn't last,
But nobody knew,
My knight in shining armour,
They overthrew.

I was mislead,
Taken in by the lies,
The sound of running water,
Drowns out my cries.

I'm done,
Finally finished,
I knew I should have been cautious,
I should have been skittish,

And as they take me away,
I hear the faint sound of bells,
Thrown into the fire,
To burn in my personal hell.
