The Beach

The heat drowns everything out of me and so far, all I can see is the sun

Gleaming brightly as everyone around me gets some fun

They're up for the summer, the beach is the perfect place

To come together and for me, to see that perfect and beautiful face

I never thought that this would happen, this cliche kinda feel

Seeing your face from a distance, asking myself if this was real

So as I see you soak up the sun, I finally got the nerve to get up and walk on over

Just in time to see you there with someone over your shoulder

Well if it isn't Ms. I've-got-it-all flirting with the boy of my dreams

Thinking that she's perfect but she's falling apart at the seams.

No one's been there for her not even the boy by her side

But I think she deserves it knowing how many times she has lied

So as I stand here staring, with both my feet in the sand,

I try to tell you through my mind that I'm someone who can understand

I try to tell you that I'm worth your time, even if it was just for a while

But you just return a glance and show off you're brightest smile.

One that she gets to see everyday, one that makes me want you even more

Showing it off to everyone as you hit the ocean floor

So as I hit the waters, I've got one thing on my mind

I'm thinking about exactly how many fish I can find

But as I search for them, I remember that not every one is right for me

Because as I try to look and search, you're the only one I see

So as I closed my eyes that night, I pray that you have a good night sleep

Praying that that smile you have you'd gladly want to keep...
