Avenged Sevenfold - Waking the Fallen
Avenged Sevenfold is a metalcore band from Huntington Beach, California. Their second album, Waking the Fallen, followed up their first album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. Waking the Fallen was first released in 2003, and was the first album to feature Johnny Christ on bass. It is also the album to feature the band that we now see today (M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance, Johnny Christ, and The Rev).
This album combines the screaming of M. Shadows with more of his melodic singing than Sounding the Seventh Trumpet did. The song I Won't See You Tonight Pt. 1 is not only the longest song on the album, but it also doesn't include any screaming. Songs on the album speak of the apocalypse (end of the world), suicide, and biblical verses. As a matter of fact, the song Chapter Four is based off of Chapter Four in the book of Genesis.
As a final note, if you are just getting into Avenged Sevenfold, this album includes both a taste of their previous album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, and their future albums, City of Evil and Avenged Sevenfold. It includes both screaming and singing, so it is the full experience.
