Heartbreak In Stereo
Every My Chemical Romance fan has heard of Frank Iero. Every My Chemical Romance fan has heard of the band Pencey Prep. Back in the day, before MCR were as big as they are now, they were a small four person band - singer Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way, guitarist Ray Toro, and drummer Matt Pilliser - who were trying their hardest to get their first record written, recorded, and out.
They probably wouldn't have gotten far with out the help of another label-mate, a band called Pencey Prep.
Fronted by the now rhythm guitarist of My Chemical Romance, Frank Iero, Pencey Prep was the sound that the boys had always wanted. With Frank on the vocals and the guitar, Neil Sabatino on the guitar and vocals, John McGuire on the bass guitar and vocals, Shaun Simon on the keyboard and the moog, and Tim Hagevik on the drums, it's a perfect combination to make the perfect rugged almost Rancid/Black Flag punk sounding band.
The angst lyrics that start off the first track of the album [Heartbreak In Stereo] - While you were fucking off/ I went and found something new, let you know instantly that this is not a band - or album - to be reckoned with. With the following tracks Yesterday, Don Quixote, 10 Rings, The Secret Goldfish, 8th Grade, 19, Trying to Escape the Inevitable, Lloyd Dobbler, and Florida Plates - plus an additional song titled Fat and Alone - this album gives you a healthy dose of New Jersey punk/rock and a great, classic sound during every song.
In my personal opinion the album gets a 5/5 and I would totally recommend this for any lover of Rancid, Black Flag, My Chemical Romance, or of just Frank himself.
