Hit The Lights - This is a Stickup, Don't Make it Murder
Hit The Lights come from Lima, Ohio and formed in the summer of 2003. [Former] vocalist - Colin Ross and the guitarist - Omar Zehery, were previously formed in a little known band called Goodbye Sessions.
Bassists David Bermosk and Nate Van Dame (former roadie for 'emo' band Hawthorne Heights) complete the band.
Their new album 'This is a Stickup, Don't Make it Murder' consists of 12 songs:
- The Call Out
- These Backs Are Made For Stabbing
- Three Oh Nine
- Bodybag
- Talk Us Down
- Save Your Breath
- Sincerely Yours
- One Hundred Times
- It's All The Rage
- Speakers Blown
- Until We Get Caught
- Make A Run For It
"Tell me again how we're easily forgettable
so formulaic and way too simple to be
at all original, yeah so we've heard
It's time to keep your mouth shut
while we show you how to rock-n-roll...”
This is how Hit The Lights begin their new album, by responding to a reviewers opinion on their EP 'Until We Get Caught'. Not only did they show us their promise of 'showing us how to rock-and-roll' they also bring us one of the feel good albums for 2006.
These Back Are Made For Stabbing is a fast flowing track that hits you hard with lyrics that include:
You play this game so well
So well in fact that they can tell
But we're on to you (lets go)
'Cause your act is nothing new
And we can see right through it now
Your method is old, worn and used.
The guitar riffs will be sure to make you want to boogey in your desk chair as you turn up the volume notch and blast them on your iTunes. This track is definitely an essential track and one to download.
Save Your Breath is the first track they produced and the first track they produced a video for.
Every time you go to sleep at night
I wonder what you hide behind closed eyes
What else/could you be keeping from me?
What else could you be keeping from me?
The lyrics in this song will make you want to download more and hear more.
Their lyrics contain every single emotion you could look for. Anger, love, hatred, desperation and a hint of sarcasm. Add them all together and you have an album that will get you begging for more. The tracks to look out for on the album definitely have to be These Back Are Made For Stabbing, It's All The Rage and Save Your Breath.
