Home Cinema; Starting Riots From Your Bedroom

Home Cinema; Starting Riots From Your Bedroom Hailing from Barnet, North London, Minus IQ have been entrancing their fans with their synth infused indie sounds since 2006. Band members Charlie Allen, Michael Lane, Justin Pither and Jake Schogger, have created a brand of music with the ability to appeal to everyone from all walks of life. The band, signed to London indie label, Greengarden Records, are releasing their first album via iTunes on the 23rd April 2009.

Home Cinema, their debut album, consists of 12 tracks ranging from electro-rock beats such as 'Ultraviolet', playful ballads like 'So You Know' and heart wrenching melodies in 'Tale From The Other Side Of Town'.

'Shoot First' starts the album with a soft piano with a growing bass, which explodes with overdriven guitars and pounding drums. The song features lyrics about a one night stand, not exactly something to listen to in front of your parents, but they wouldn't even notice the sexual references that are hidden so well in between this electronic infused track.

The album rages on with skillfully written songs until its brought to a high point with the song 'Overexposure'. The only song on the album to be written by the bands frontman Charlie Allen, it adds a new spice to Minus IQ, with lyrics cryptic enough to make the song personal to you, unless you're a pornstar...then it would be quite correct to the original idea. The song, including its heavy guitar solos and vocals skills mad enough to melt your face, trust me... This song is "da bomb".

The album reaches its final curtain call with the beautifully composed piano ballad, 'Two Halves'. Its lyrics of fighting for something, or someone who you care for, grip onto your heartstrings and gives it hope that one day, it will all just be fine. The track finishes with a saxophone and a minor chord leaving you with the feeling of wanting more. But don't worry world, the band tour like crazy and apply the album to the stage like no one else including bongos, xylophones and cowbells.

This band are exceptionally good and their album is a rollercoaster ride through the oscillators of Charlie's synthesizer. So don't forget to buy this on iTunes or on CD format from May 3rd via the bands MySpace.
