I got the songbook for this album and learned how to play Before the Lobotomy on the piano.
    That one's definitely my favorite.
    Excellent review.

Man I haven't checked the comments in a while on this.
I think the comments one person made on them packing up and going home because they're nearly 40 is ABSURD.
This album is a masterpiece in it's own right. It's something different and beautiful with meaning. It makes you think and that's something that's sorely lacking in todays scene

It amazes me that people aren't impressed by the album. And really pisses me off that people think that because they're in their late 30s, that they need to 'go home' and fail to be relevent.

I love it!!! It's amazing, the way they've written it!!

I brought the deluxe album, (and it was worth every fucking penny) and got this hardback cover version of the lyrics, the pictures in it even amazed me, it was so realistic, yet made you imagine!!

I LOVE GREEN DAY!!! AMAZING ALBULM AS ALWAYS!

I have found only a few songs worth listening to. To say the least I don't think the album is overly amazing. I kind of wish I could take it back.
I am not saying the album was horrid, in its own right its not to bad.
I do enjoy the songs, East Jesus nowhere, Peacemaker, Last of the American Girls, and ?Viva La Gloria?(#12) and of course the singles.

But other then that, I don't think people are really missing out on anything huge if they don't go out and buy it.

This is a really well-written review. I love the album. It really show how the band evolved through the years. And I love how you discussed about the characters and compared it to AI's characters. Nice work.

    I fucking LOVE the album.
    It's AMAZING.
It's great to hear Billie's voice again, it's so lovely to hear yet once again. (:
I'm in love with the album.

*If you haven't gotten it, and you like Green Day (obviously you wouldn't buy their album if you hated Green Day) then you are completely CRAZY, out of your fucking mind.

    Green Day, forever. (;

I love this album to death, I could listen to this album 24/7 for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. Hell ever since May 15 I have been playing it non-stop. I have it to the point where I am singing in my head through out the day.

This was written very well! I see this as a musical everytime I listen to it, and this album is the only CD I've listened to in a week! Like you I see the two people; Christain and Gloria but the storyline I see (in my eyes) is that a nucular war of the 60's actually happened and it's the life of the people who used the word religion to their own way, like the 'Peacemaker' is a war tiront, Christain gets taken with his visualanti group and Gloria goes to find him meeting people on the way, and then the 'soldier' after 21 Guns have seem to see Gloria's view but the Peacemaker creates havic but in all of it Gloria sees Christain and time stops ('See the light'). The world is burning and in havic but they've found eachother and even eachother out.
The world hasn't been saved, it's still torn but that life is fairer than death and with eachother by their side they're happy.
lol so that's what I see EVER BLOODY time I listen to this! and I have been listening to it for 8 days straight since I got it.
    The world doesn't

    I really don't like it.
It sounds generic and just something to put out there.
I love Green Day, don't get me wrong...
    But c'mon, you're almost 40.
    Go home.

    No, it's their 8th.
Shenangians doesn't count because it's a compilation of old B-Sides and covers. NOT a studio release and International Superhits is their greatest hits album, NOT a studio release.
Studio albums are different from b-side compilations or greatest hits compilations.

The album is really good, I think. Vocally, it was a nice change. There were some sounds that reminded me of Warning, Nimrod, and American Idiot. By the way, 21st Century Breakdown is their 9th studio album - 10th if you count International Superhits!.

hmm... well everyones entitled to their own tastes..
I thought this album kinda brought back that organic sound of Warning but has a lot of new things strung throughout as well.
It's basically if I wrote a list of my favourite things the guys have done and told them to make a record, this would be the result.

Actually, today my friend had the album and let me listen to it. I got through about half of it so far, turned it off, and put on Warning. =/ It's not too impressive.

I love Green Day, but this does seem like just another album for them...
I wish they'd done something a little different.
No disrespect, I still adore them.

    really?
    What songs did you hear?
Just Know Your Enemy and the 21CB demo?
If that's all you've heard then you DEFINITELY need to pick up the album because it blows those tracks away.
